Vision
A future where every child thrives.
Horizons Hampton Roads is an affiliate of Horizons National which now serves students at 71 sites in 19 states. Horizons across the U. S. thrive on private-public partnerships to support the mission, with public school students hosted by private schools, community colleges and universities, parochial schools, public schools, and churches. Our 3 sites are graciously hosted by Norfolk Collegiate, Portsmouth Catholic, and Virginia Wesleyan University.
Horizons' award-winning program has been proven to reverse summer learning loss for students in K-8, instill confidence, strengthen reading and math skills, and much more! Our project-based instruction model integrates a well-balanced blend of academics and enrichment - including STEM, swim lessons, environmental stewardship projects, weekly field trips, and classes in art, music, chess and more! The high school program, LaunchPad, runs year-round, including college tours, monthly workshops, an intensive summer internship complete with job shadowing experiences, mock interviews, and more.

When you ask our students what they like most about Horizons, they will often tell you it's about RELATIONSHIPS! This is where they make best friends, discover their passions for learning new things, choose future career paths, prepare to succeed in high school, the workplace, and college—and have fun! Many of our students return for 5 to 9, years or more!
