Volunteer or Host Internship
Horizons relies on numerous individuals and partners in a variety of ways each year. From serving on our board of directors, to volunteering in classrooms, to hosting a job-shadowing experience for high school students, and many other ways, we feel certain you and your colleagues will find meaningful ways to contribute.
Here are a list of opportunities and brief Google form where we can capture your interests and respond with next steps. Complete the Google form as soon as you are ready. There is no obligation in submitting your interests or questions.
- Volunteer to read or assist in K-8 Classrooms (1 or more times during the 5-week summer program).
- Share your stories of inspiration with a classroom during our "Career Exploration" blocks of about 30 minutes.
- Organize a book or supply drive at your business, church or civic organization.
- Host a Job Shadowing opportunity AKA "Micro-internship" of 2-3 days at your business for 2 or more students during the summer. This should offer hands-on learning behind the scenes where students can experience what it is like to work in that/those career/s. We are here to help w/ the planning.
- Organize a food-drive and pack meals for our families - summer and year-round opportunities.
- Provide an engaging workshop for our high school students or parents on a topic that would be meaningful to them - financial literacy, healthy relationships, resume building, parenting, home-buying, cooking, etc.
- Host a field trip for groups of 30 or more students - businesses, colleges, cultural centers, recreational centers, parks, etc.
- Become a funding partner - we would be happy to meet with you to discuss your interests and ideas.
- Serve on our board of directors - complete the interest form and indicate your interests in investing your resources with us!
