Horizons Hampton Roads completed five Spectacular Saturdays at P.B. Young Elementary. With 50 children enrolled, we averaged 27 children in Kindergarten or 1st Grade each weekend. Students participated in Project-based learning, focusing on Reading and Math skills. All children were assisted by a total of 31 volunteers who provided 126 hours of service over the course of our five weeks together.
Special thanks to our compassionate volunteers: Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, The Mansbach Scholar Foundation, TruSolutions and Omega Psi Fraternity from Norfolk State University. Thank you for coming out each Saturday to read and support the wonderful students of P.B. Young Elementary. Your volunteer service is key to our overall success with students who need the support the most – Thank you for being Heroes for Horizons Hampton Roads. Together we are inspiring minds, building community, and transforming lives!
